How jobs get assigned (and how to override it)

ArrivePing ranks your technicians for every job and a dispatcher confirms. Add an assignment rule when you want some jobs assigned on their own.

Out of the box, nothing is assigned without a person. For every unassigned job ArrivePing ranks your technicians on distance, the skill class and skills the job requires, their open jobs and when they are projected to be free. A technician finishing up nearby can outrank one who is free but far away, and High or Urgent jobs lean harder on who can go now. The ranking shows as Best match on the job and as Find a slot in the Scheduler.

When you pick someone, the job reaches them as an offer in the app. They tap Accept, or Decline to send it straight back to the queue; see When a technician declines or sends a job back.

Overriding

Dispatchers can reassign any job: open it from Operations → Jobs or drag it onto another technician in Operations → Scheduler. The technician is notified and the customer's booking details update. Dropping a job on someone without the required skill class asks you first.

Letting a rule assign for you

Setup → Settings → Automation & AI holds your assignment rules: nearest available tech, round-robin, zone owner or load balance. Each rule starts by suggesting; a separate switch turns on auto-assign. Many teams run with suggestions for a week and switch on auto-assign once they trust them. See Assignment rules.

Skill classes and skills (gas fitter, licensed electrician, and so on) are set on the technician in People → Technicians & Managers and required on each job. See Send only qualified technicians.
